My dead friend Zoe is a dark drama of comedy that follows a journey of merit (Sonequa Martin-Green), an American army of the Afghan veteran who clashes with her family thanks to Zoe’s presence (Natalie Morales), her dead best friend from the army. Despite the perseverance of his Va group consultant (Morgan Freeman), the heavy love of the mother (Gloria Reuben) and the casualness of the unexpected love interest, Merit’s pleasantly dysfunctional friendship with Zoe keeps duo isolated from the world. This is as long as Merit -‘s alienated grandfather (Ed Harris) – attached to the Ancecal Lake family home – does not start to lose his way and needs the only thing he refuses … help.
